About the Book

Yatra by Harekrishna Deka is a psychological exploration of the human mind, navigating through the murky waters of self-awareness and the complexities of the human condition. A mysterious letter arrives at the doorstep of an aging writer, altering his perceptions and actions as he embarks on a journey to uncover the truth behind its contents. This confrontation pulls him deeper into the psyche of humanity and the turbulence of modern civilization.

The narrative dances between the realms of the 'shadowland' and 'heartland,' exploring the intricate interplay between inner and outer worlds. The author masterfully questions the role of the reader and the writer, probing how much agency or passivity the participants truly have in the unfolding story. The novel presents an unfinished journey, with no simple solutions or conclusions, leaving readers with the lingering thought that, perhaps, our journeys are endless—each completed trip leads to the beginning of the next.

With a profound psychological core, Yatra challenges binary notions and is a reflection on the complexities of human existence, pushing boundaries in the narrative form. Deka’s masterful storytelling refuses easy answers, inviting readers to confront the depth of their own personal journeys.
