About the Book
WAGs (Wives and Girlfriends of Soldiers) are often a point of interest in the media when it comes to the wives of athletes or celebrities. However, little attention is given to the wives of military personnel who play a crucial role behind the scenes, ensuring the well-being of their families and the resilience of the soldiers. This book brings to light the often-underestimated yet pivotal role military spouses play in supporting soldiers and their families, particularly in times of deployment and military operations.
Lt Col Dr. Samir Rawat has compiled a comprehensive exploration of the challenges military spouses face, focusing on their mental health, coping mechanisms, and leadership roles in both national and international military contexts. The book sheds light on the emotional, psychological, and social coping strategies that military spouses use to maintain resilience, despite the difficulties posed by their unique lifestyles. It also touches on their contributions to soldier morale, motivation, and performance, which are integral to the functioning and success of the military.
The book's contributions span across various countries, offering case studies and insights from Brazil, Croatia, India, Norway, and Romania, illustrating the universal nature of military spouses’ challenges and triumphs.
