Description:
Vidyasagarer Chelebela is a fascinating account of the childhood of one of India's greatest social reformers, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar. Written by Indramitra, this book delves into the early life of Vidyasagar, highlighting his stubborn and independent nature. As a child, Vidyasagar was often called names like "Eṛe Bāṣur" (meaning stubborn calf) and "Ghaṛ-Kendo" (meaning someone with a bent neck who wouldn't straighten easily) by his father, reflecting his strong-willed character.
The author narrates several interesting and humorous incidents from Vidyasagar's childhood, such as how his father would trick him into doing things by telling him to do the opposite. This not only provides insight into his unique temperament but also reflects his eventual persistence and determination. Indramitra, known for his diligent research, ensures that this biography is based on authentic, well-researched events, making it a reliable source of information, especially for younger readers.
This book is a delightful read for children and adults alike, as it presents the formative years of Vidyasagar in a fun and relatable manner, while also offering a glimpse into his personality that shaped his later achievements.
