Book Summary:
During the 1960s, when poet Sunil Gangopadhyay wrote his first novel, "Jubak-Jubotira", without any urgency to publish, Bengali fiction had already undergone significant transformations. No longer confined to the realm of romance, the characters in contemporary literature sought liberation through introspection and self-absorption. Sunil Gangopadhyay described this era as one of "unexplained restlessness," reflecting the deep existential crisis of the youth.
His literary journey took a definitive turn with the novel "Atmaprakash," where he transcended conventional storytelling and explored new artistic dimensions. Over the years, Sunil Gangopadhyay has evolved into an institution in Bengali literature, celebrated for his narrative craftsmanship, character depth, social awareness, and philosophical explorations. His novels remain an invaluable part of Bengali literary heritage.
This collection, "Upanyas Samagra 1," marks the beginning of a comprehensive compilation of his novels. This volume includes seven of his most celebrated works:

- Aranyer Din Ratri
