Details: The Eternal Husband And Other Stories is a novel which depicts the complicated relationship between Trusotsky and Velchaninov. Alexei Velchaninov lives in Saint Petersburg and owns a land. He is facing a trial due to a piece of land. Trusotsky, a windower, visits him because he has known him for a long time. Velchaninov and Trusotsky’s wife, Natalia, had an affair and Velchaninov finds out that Liza, who thinks that she is Trusotsky’s daughter, is actually his biological daughter. Velchaninov does not want Liza to stay with the alcoholic Trusotsky. Due to all this confusion, Liza is brought to a foster family but she dies there.
Trusotsky wants to marry a fifteen- year old girl named Nadia, who is the daughter of a civil servant named Zakhlyobnin. Trusotsky goes to visit his fiancée along with Velchaninov and gifts her bracelet. But, later on, Nadia gives the bracelet to Velchaninov and ask him to give it back to Trusotsky. Nadia loves a nineteen-year old boy, Alexander Lobov and gets engaged to him secretly.
Later on, Trusotsky expresses his desire to sleep in Velchaninov’s home, where, in the middle of the night, he makes an attempt to kill him with a razor knife. The Eternal Husband And Other Stories was written by Fyodor Dostoyevsky and was published in paperback format in the English language by RHUS in a reprint edition in 2000.
