About Tangail Saree

Tangail sarees are handwoven on cotton and silk, often featuring intricate hand-worked buti (floral design) or contemporary motifs. The defining feature of the Tangail saree is the use of an extra weft buti, which are tiny motifs repeated all over the saree using a Jacquard loom. Cotton Tangail sarees are particularly popular due to their lightweight nature, making them ideal for daily wear. In districts like Nadia and Bardhaman, about 1,000 weavers and 2,000 ancillary artisans are involved in creating these colourful, elegant, and easy-to-manage sarees.

COLOUR, TEXTURE & WASH CARE INFORMATION

  • General: Colour and texture may vary slightly from the photograph due to lighting conditions and screen settings.

  • Wash Care: Dry Clean Only, Cold Wash recommended. Colour may bleed in case of natural dyes.

  • Embroidery: Imperfections in handwork are expected, which are inherent to handwoven, hand-embroidered, or handcrafted products. These variations add to the unique charm of the product.

  • Handwoven: Missing yarns, slubs, and uneven yarn contrasts are common in handwoven items. These are natural outcomes of the weaving process, contributing to the distinctive beauty of the product.
