A cancer specialist by profession, Dashgupta is a prolific writer, consistently contributing works on health and medicine in both Bengali and English. His notable publications include The Political Economy of Breast Cancer, Cancer: Old Fears, New Thoughts, Living with Cancer, and Maya Rahiya Gel (a memoir of the social revolutionary days of the 1970s).
