About the Book
The seventh volume of Subhash Chandra Basu's Complete Works is an important collection of letters, speeches, and essays from a critical time in his life. It includes more than 200 unpublished letters as well as significant political essays that reflect his thoughts on various topics such as imperialism, nationalism, fascism, democracy, psychology, philosophy, spirituality, urban planning, travel, Gandhi, and Ireland, among others.
The collection primarily covers the period between 1933 and 1937, a time when Subhash Chandra Basu was at a crossroads in his life. In February 1933, a frail, sick man was carried by ambulance to a ship heading to Europe. By November 1937, he was on a plane bound for Europe from Calcutta, a pivotal moment in his life when he was proposed as the Congress President.
It was during this period that he was forced into European exile, and this volume captures his experiences and ideas during this critical phase.
The essays in this volume include:
- Anti-imperialist Struggle and Communism
- Europe Today and Tomorrow
- Japanās Role in the Far East
- Arguments for and Against Accepting a Ministry
These writings will offer deep insights into his political and philosophical outlook during his exile. The letters and speeches demonstrate his intellectual journey and the issues that shaped his revolutionary path.
