About the Book
Society in India: Concepts, Theories, and Recent Trends by Ahuja Ram offers a comprehensive analysis of Indian society from various perspectives including religio-philosophical, historico-political, and Marxian. This work bridges the gap between traditional views and modern sociological thought, illustrating the evolution of Indian society from a traditional to a modern framework.
The book delves into the contributions of Indian philosophers and radical writers, who have brought a fresh perspective to the problems faced by Indian society, distinct from the Western approaches. With a strong foundation of theoretical analysis and rich empirical data, the work addresses the complexities of social issues in both existing and emerging societal contexts.
Targeted towards postgraduate students of sociology as well as those preparing for competitive exams like IAS, State Administrative Services, and NET, this book provides a thorough exploration of India's social dynamics. It also offers in-depth analysis on social stratification, the impact of caste and untouchability, family structures, economic systems, and more.
