About the Book
Improving the health status of people is a challenge not just for health practitioners, but also for social scientists and activists. Economists, anthropologists, sociologists, psychologists, and demographers have all contributed significantly to understanding health in a holistic sense and developing better health care programs. This edited volume provides a comprehensive understanding of health issues from socio-cultural perspectives.
The articles in this volume, contributed by eminent social scientists, present rich material from theoretical, empirical, and interdisciplinary studies done in India. These contributions suggest new ways for health care planning and offer deep insights into the socio-cultural dimensions of health. The book serves as a useful resource for those engaged in health research and action programs.
