Synopsis:
Ulupi Palita, an unmarried woman, runs Karumanjari, a handicraft organization, and lives with her daughter, Upasana, in their ancestral home near Madhyamgram. For them, the artisans working at Karumanjari are more than just employees; they are family.
Ulupi’s brother, Upal, an engineer, lives with his wife Parama on Anwar Shah Road, while their son, Upamanyu, studies engineering in Bangalore. Upal’s childhood friend Jishnu once loved Ulupi, but fate led him to the U.S., where he earned a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and married Jagori. Now, Jishnu has a happy family life in the Boston suburbs with their children, Rik and Raka.
Life takes an unexpected turn when Upasana marries Rahul, her college friend, and moves to California. As pregnancy complications arise, Ulupi travels there to care for her daughter. Meanwhile, at Jishnu’s insistence, Ulupi visits Boston, but there, Upasana’s health deteriorates further, complicating relationships in unforeseen ways.
Like a silver wand that puts some to sleep and a golden wand that awakens others, Shitjapan Sheshe explores love, separation, and self-discovery in a journey spanning continents.
