• An engineering student who chose to pursue a literary career, he began with private tutoring and later worked in a factory before joining the editorial team of Desh magazine. Currently, he is associated with Krittibas magazine.
• Thakur has penned 20 books across genres, including poetry, stories, novels, and essays. His works have been translated into English and several Indian languages.
• Notable awards include the Krittibas, Bangla Akademi, and Nabonnamesh awards, as well as the Writer of the Year honor from the Indian Rationalist Association.
• He received the Ananda Puraskar in 2012 for his poetry collection Chumboner Khoto.
