- The novel unfolds like a rich cinematic tapestry, beginning in the lush tea gardens of North Bengal, surrounded by trees and the flowing Angravasa river.
- As the story progresses, it paints a vivid picture of 1950s Kolkata and its suburbs, featuring co-education colleges, women’s hostels, coffee houses, contemporary student movements, and the political landscape of the time.
- It also explores the challenges and environment of an all-India professional workspace, capturing the hardships women face in their pursuit of self-empowerment.
- Through Dipabali’s relentless struggle, ambitions, and personal battles, Satkahan remains an unforgettable, meticulously crafted novel that vividly illustrates the journey of women striving for independence in post-independence Bengali society.
