The novel Saraswatir Payer Kache tells the turbulent and emotional journey of Manik, a young boy caught in the storm of family conflicts and societal expectations. Meanwhile, his childhood friend Padma proposes marriage, but Manik refuses. Shockingly, he later discovers that his father himself plans to marry Padma. Heartbroken and humiliated, Padma takes a drastic step, leaving Manik devastated.
Unable to bear his suffocating home life, Manik escapes one morning and embarks on a thrilling journey to Kolkata. Facing life-threatening situations, he meets Bhola Doctor, a kind soul from his village, who helps him pass his matriculation exams. In a twist of fate, an unexpected marriage occurs, and after several years, Manik comes across Padma once again on the streets of Kolkata. But by then, life has changed for both of them.
