Synopsis:
Sandher Pare is the story of a woman in the twilight of her life, whose existence had always been defined by her roles—a cherished doll, a cook, a caretaker. Her true self remained buried under these imposed identities.
Never had anyone called upon her to be just herself, to exist beyond the labels of widow, mother, mother-in-law, or grandmother. Until one day, a subtle yet intense call reached her.
As the day fades into dusk, an unexpected love blossoms, delicate yet undeniable. But what form does love take at this age? Is it calm and restrained, or does it defy conventions? Through the lens of two individuals standing at the edge of life, Buddhadeb Guha explores a rare and unconventional relationship, painting a vivid picture of modern life and its ever-changing dynamics.
About the Author:
Buddhadeb Guha was a chartered accountant by profession and one of the most celebrated contemporary Bengali authors. His deep love for forests and wildlife is reflected in his writings. Having traveled extensively across India, Europe, America, and Africa, his rich experiences shaped his literary creations.
His first book, Jangalmahal, introduced readers to his passion for nature, and over time, he became a literary icon. His controversial novel ‘Madhukari’ remained a bestseller for years.
Apart from novels, he also wrote children’s literature, introducing the beloved character Rijuda, an adventurer deeply connected to nature. He received the Ananda Puraskar in 1977 for his literary contributions.
