Description:

Sakale Pratyeke Eka is a heartfelt collection of Shakti Chattopadhyay's poems that were previously scattered across various journals and magazines, along with some unpublished gems found in his diaries. Compiled by his wife, Meenakshi Chattopadhyay, this anthology brings to light remarkable verses such as:

  • "যতদূর দুঃখ যায় সেই পথে আমি হেঁটে আসি"
  • "কুড়ুল দিয়ে কাঠুরে কাঠ কাটে/ ভেঙেছে চাঁদ মেঘের পাখসাটে"

These poems, deeply etched with Shakti's unique voice, speak of life, loss, and the profound beauty of existence, embodying his celebrated legacy in Bengali literature.

About the Author:

Shakti Chattopadhyay (1933–1995) was one of the most iconic poets of Bengali literature. Born on November 25, 1933, in Baharu, 24 Parganas, Shakti lost his father early and was raised by his maternal family. He studied at Presidency College and later at Jadavpur University, although he did not complete his degree.

His literary career began with the poem "Jam" in Kobita magazine (1956), edited by Buddhadeb Basu. He was closely associated with Krittibas magazine and gained immense acclaim for his contributions to Bengali poetry.

With over a hundred books to his name, including poetry, prose, and translations, Shakti received numerous accolades such as the Ananda Puraskar, Sahitya Akademi Award, and the Gangadhar Meher Award. He passed away unexpectedly on March 23, 1995, while teaching at Visva-Bharati University.
