Author Bio: Satyajit Ray

Satyajit Ray (2 May 1921 – 23 April 1992) was a world-renowned Indian filmmaker, screenwriter, and author, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. Born in Kolkata, he was the son of renowned writer Sukumar Ray and his wife Suprabha Ray.

Ray's academic journey took him from Presidency College to Santiniketan, though he left his education incomplete due to the tumult of the time. Despite a career in advertising and graphic design, his passion for filmmaking led him to create his first feature film Pather Panchali in 1955, which won international acclaim. His storytelling abilities weren't confined to film; he also wrote numerous short stories, novels, and children's books.

Professor Shanku (1965), featuring a scientist who embarks on adventurous and scientific quests, became one of his most popular series, alongside his detective character Feluda. His works have had an immense impact on both literature and cinema, earning him several prestigious awards including the Bharat Ratna and the Légion d'Honneur from France. His literary works also include Feluuda, Goendagiri and other celebrated writings.
