Author Bio:
Satyajit Ray, born on May 2, 1921, in Kolkata, was one of the most renowned filmmakers in the world. He was the only child of Sukumar Ray and Suprabha Ray. After completing his education at Presidency College, he joined the world of advertising before transitioning to filmmaking. Ray’s first film Pather Panchali (1955) won international acclaim, receiving the highest honors, including the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival. Apart from his work in cinema, Ray was a celebrated writer and illustrator. His literary works include science fiction, detective stories, essays, and short stories. Professor Shanku is one of his most beloved creations, and he received numerous prestigious awards, including the Bharat Ratna and the Legion of Honor from France, for his lifetime achievements in art and cinema. Ray passed away on April 23, 1992, leaving behind an unparalleled legacy in both film and literature.
