He has designed and taught on undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Psychiatry, and has researched post-traumatic stress disorder and depression. He is an undergraduate examiner for the University of Liver Pool and a postgraduate examiner for the Royal College of Psychiatrists. He is a medico-legal expert and has published 10 books. He has edited Psychiatry On-line since 1994.
