About the Book

📖 Nirupama Debi was one of the most revered female writers of 19th-century Bengal, much like Swarnakumari Devi. In an era when women were confined to the inner quarters, Nirupama Debi emerged as a literary powerhouse, defying the restrictions imposed by a patriarchal society.

📖 In Nirupama Debi: Jibone O Sahitye, Chitralekha Gupta attempts to rediscover this forgotten literary genius. Drawing from her novels, stories, and personal memories, the book explores:

  • The challenges of being a female writer in a male-dominated society
  • The deep connection between her personal life and literary creations
  • The influence of family, social norms, and contemporary struggles on her writing

🔹 A rare and insightful work that sheds light on an often-overlooked literary figure, this book serves as a window into the life and times of Nirupama Debi.
