Book Description:
নেতাজীর সহধর্মিণী (Netajir Sahadharmini) offers an intimate look into the life of Emilie Schenkl, the wife of Subhas Chandra Bose, and her shared journey with him. Subhas, a lifelong struggler, never saw marriage as a route to domestic happiness, and Emilie, introduced to him in 1934, was fully aware of this. Their relationship, marked by sacrifice and devotion, was one of quiet solidarity amidst the turmoil of a revolution.
The book reveals the untold story of Emilie Schenkl Bose, a woman who chose a life of quietness and renunciation. Despite being the wife of one of India's greatest freedom fighters, Emilie never visited India, living in isolation in her apartment in Vienna. There, she carried the weight of memories and love for Netaji, living a life filled with personal challenges and sacrifices.
Based on a personal interview with Emilie, conducted by the author Shekhar Basu during his visit to Vienna, this book brings to light many unknown aspects of her life. Through rare photographs, letters, and intimate narratives, the book sheds light on the strength and resilience of Emilie, exploring how she navigated her relationship with Netaji and the sacrifices she made in the name of love and duty.
