Bratya Basu (ব্রাত্য বসু) was born on September 25, 1969, in Kolkata. He completed his education at Bangur School, Presidency College, and the University of Calcutta, earning a Master's degree in Bengali Literature. He is one of the most significant modern playwrights, directors, and actors in Bengali theatre.
The son of the renowned theatre personality Bishnu Basu, Bratya has won numerous prestigious awards, including:
