About the Author
Shankha Ghosh, one of the most celebrated Bengali poets, was born on February 5, 1932, in Chandpur (now in Bangladesh). Writing under the pen name Kuntak, he:
- Studied at Chandraprabha Vidyapith, Presidency College, and the University of Calcutta.
- Began his literary journey with his first poetry collection Dinguli Ratguli in 1956.
- Served as a professor at Jadavpur University and earned a reputation as a poet, essayist, and editor.
- Received numerous awards, including the Sahitya Akademi Award (1977), Rabindra Puraskar (1989), Kabir Samman (1998), and Saraswati Samman (1998).
- Passed away on April 21, 2021.
