About the Book
The book Recent Advances in Management of Arid Ecosystem addresses the persistent challenges faced by arid ecosystems, which have long been under pressure from biotic and abiotic stresses. Over the past few decades, these ecosystems have suffered significant resource depletion due to over-exploitation by growing human and livestock populations, as well as increased developmental activities.
In response to these challenges, efforts were initiated by national, regional, and international organizations to contain degradation and restore productivity within these fragile environments. The book is the result of these efforts, stemming from a symposium held in March 1997 by the Arid Zone Research Association of India (AZRAI). The symposium gathered over 300 participants, and this publication includes 125 peer-reviewed papers from the event, covering the latest research and advancements in the field.
