About the Author:

Vishwas Patil was born on November 28, 1959, in a small village in Maharashtra. Coming from a farmer’s family, he later became an IAS officer in the Maharashtra cadre. A distinguished novelist and playwright, he won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1992 for his Marathi novel Jhadazhadati. His book Mahanayak has been widely acclaimed and translated into several languages. Another of his popular historical novels, Shambhaji, is based on the life of Shivaji’s son, Shambhaji.
