Description
The Vijayanagar Empire is considered the pinnacle of Indian-Hindu civilization and the foundation of a Hindu republic. Among its rulers, Krishna Dev Rai stands out prominently. Under his leadership, the Vijayanagar army remained undefeated, and he honored great spiritual leaders like Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Vallabhacharya, Saint Kanakdas, and Saint Purandardas. Krishna Dev Rai was a capable military leader and a compassionate emperor who undertook numerous projects for the welfare of his subjects. Detailed contemporary accounts by Portuguese travelers and inscriptions provide insight into his reign. His empire extended across Belgaum, Goa, Cuttack, and Sri Lanka. Krishna Dev Rai was also a scholar and poet, writing in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Sanskrit. Known as the "Bhojraja" of Andhra, his court was adorned by great poets, including Shreenath, the "Telugu Kalidasa." His literary work "Amuktamalyada" is regarded as a masterpiece of Telugu poetry. In just nineteen years, he won all thirty battles he fought, blending mastery in both shastras and warfare, making him an unparalleled emperor.
