    • Studied at Vivekananda Institution, Ripon College, Presidency College, and the University of Calcutta.
    • Secured first-class first in his MA examination in Bengali literature.
  • Career:

    • Started as an educator and was associated with the University of Calcutta from 1962.
    • Held the prestigious Ram Tanu Lahiri Professorship until his retirement in 1993.
  • Literary Contributions:

    • His research spanned medieval to modern Bengali literature, focusing on Swami Vivekananda, Sister Nivedita, and the Ramakrishna movement.
    • His book Nivedita Lokmata is highly regarded.
    • He also contributed significantly to political literature, especially with his extensive research and publications on Subhas Chandra Bose.
