About the Author:
Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay (Born: November 2, 1935) is one of the most celebrated authors in Bengali literature, admired for his contributions to both children's and adult literature.
- Birthplace: Bikrampur, Dhaka (present-day Bangladesh).
- Childhood: A nomadic life due to his father's railway job took him to places like Kolkata, Bihar, North Bengal, East Bengal, and Assam.
- Education: Completed his schooling in missionary institutions and pursued higher education at Victoria College and the University of Calcutta.
- Career: Began as a schoolteacher and transitioned to journalism, now associated with Anandabazar Patrika.
His debut story was published in Desh magazine, followed by the novel Ghurnopoka. His first children’s novel, Monojder Adbhut Bari, set the stage for his illustrious career in children’s literature.
