Book Description:
The Goyendapith series began in 2018 with the release of Goyendapith Lalbazar, which immediately captured the imagination of readers. It recounted the thrilling real-life investigative work of Kolkata's detectives, akin to fictional characters like Feluda and Byomkesh. The success of this first volume led to the publication of two more installments: Goyendapith Lalbazar 2 and Abar Goyendapith—both of which received immense praise.
Now, with Goyendapith Samagra, all three previously published volumes are brought together, along with four brand-new, never-before-published mysteries, creating a definitive collection for mystery lovers.
While the world of fictional detectives is based on creation, the realm of real-life investigators is about construction. This key difference between creation and construction forms the bedrock of the Goyendapith series. In this book, IPS officer Supratim Sarkar presents an electrifying narrative of some of the most sensational cases over the years, unraveling the intricacies of investigative procedures and the intense behind-the-scenes efforts.
From the famous Pakur case of the early 20th century, dealing with bio-terrorism, to the ATM fraud of recent times, from the haunting Devayani Banik murder in the early 1980s to the tragic death of police officer Bappi Sen two decades ago, this volume explores cases that span a century. The book also dives deep into the psychological profiles of teenage criminals involved in brutal murders, and the chilling accounts of the Stone Man killer’s unsolved cases. These stories, many of which are known to the public while others remain largely unheard, are meticulously documented in Goyendapith Samagra—a monumental addition to Bengali crime literature.
More than just a collection of investigative thrillers, this complete anthology also serves as a historical document—spanning from the 19th century’s shadowy past to the real-time present of the 21st century. Goyendapith Samagra is not only a treasure trove for mystery enthusiasts but also an essential guide for those looking to delve into the world of investigative science and criminology.
