Satyajit Ray (2nd May 1921 – 23rd April 1992)
Born in North Kolkata, India, to Sukumar Ray and Suprabha Ray.
Educated at Presidency College and Santiniketan. Though he started studying at Santiniketan, his formal education was interrupted in 1942.
Worked in the advertising field before delving into filmmaking. His film Pather Panchali won global recognition, especially at the Cannes Film Festival.
A multi-talented creator, Ray is also known for his work in literature, particularly his Feluda detective series, which started with the story Feluda's Case in 1965.
In addition to literature, Ray was also a renowned illustrator and graphic designer.
His awards include Bharat Ratna, Legion of Honor, and the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, among many others.
Ray passed away in 1992, leaving behind a legacy in both cinema and literature.
