Sunil Gangopadhyay (7th September 1934 – 23rd October 2012)
Born in Faridpur, Bangladesh, and educated in Kolkata.
He began his career as a tutor and then worked in various roles, including in an insurance company, as a UNESCO worker, and in a government office.
Sunil started writing poetry, later turning to novels, with his first novel, Atmaprakash, published in Desh magazine.
Known for his contribution to children's literature as well as adult fiction.
He founded the literary magazine Krittibas and became a renowned poet and novelist.
He received various awards including the Ananda Puraskar, Bankim Puraskar, and the Sahitya Akademi Award.
