About the Book
Ruskin Bond, the renowned author who has spent over six decades writing from Mussoorie, has captured the hearts of readers across India and beyond. His works, often set in the beautiful Doon Valley and the picturesque Mussoorie, are beloved for their deep connection to the region. This book delves into various aspects of Bond’s literary contributions, shedding light on the themes that have defined his career.

The book examines Bond's romantic imagination, which forms the soul of his writing. It explores the elements that set his works apart: innocence, personal narration, a deep love for nature and the environment, a longing for the past, and his interest in childhood. These qualities not only make Bond a timeless author, but also place him firmly within the romantic tradition of the 19th century, characterized by lyricism, spontaneity, subjectivity, and a fascination with the mysterious.

In addition to exploring Bond’s literary legacy, the book also highlights the adaptations of his works into films and television, including Shyam Benegal’s Junoon, Vishal Bhardwaj’s The Blue Umbrella and 7 Khoon Maaf, and the TV series Ek Tha Rusty.
