About the Author:
- Pradeep Malhotra was born on May 8, 1952, and educated at Shantiniketan’s Pathbhavan and Kolkata Medical College. He graduated in medicine and pursued postgraduate studies.
- In 1980, he joined the Indian Government's Central Health Services and later became a part of significant Antarctic expeditions.
- Between 2003 and 2004, Dr. Malhotra served as a doctor in the Indian Antarctic Mission, stationed at Maitri Station. He led a life-saving appendectomy surgery during his stay in Antarctica in 2003.
- In 2008-2009, he served as the leader of the Indian Scientific Expedition to Antarctica and, in December 2010, became a member of the first Indian scientific team to visit the South Pole.
- After retiring in May 2012, he served as an advisor to the Health & Family Welfare Department of the West Bengal Government.
- Dr. Malhotra is also passionate about motorsports, having served as the Chief Medical Officer of the Bengal Motorsports Club since 1998, providing medical services during car rallies.
