About the Book
This book is a collection of papers on disability written by Ajit K. Dalal over the past two and a half decades. It reflects his extensive involvement with national and international organizations focused on disability and community-based rehabilitation (CBR) projects. CBR aims at rehabilitating people with disabilities, enabling them to actively engage in local communities and access available resources.
The papers in this volume emphasize rehabilitation and attitudes towards disability within village communities. The book provides an overview of the disability scenario in India and explores various approaches to improving the quality of life for people with disabilities.
It is an invaluable resource for scholars across different disciplines who share a common interest in disability rehabilitation. The book delves into the complexities of disability, cultural beliefs, and family care, along with the psychosocial challenges and the disability-poverty nexus. It also examines the efficacy of CBR projects and social interventions to address discriminatory attitudes towards people with disabilities.
