Summary:
In a famous Hindi song about Subhas Chandra Bose, it is said: “If you wish to know about that hero, ask the eternal time. If you want to know about his self-sacrifice, ask Bengal. To understand the greatness of his sacrifice, inquire from Imphal and every tree branch of Assam.” This book by Krishna Basu takes readers on a journey to uncover the footprints of this great man, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, across several countries. Krishna Basu, an intimate member of the Netaji Research Bureau, retraces the paths Bose took during India’s freedom struggle, including places like Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Formosa.
The author recounts her quest for Netaji’s traces, meeting with numerous eyewitnesses and collecting valuable documents and photographs that shed new light on Bose’s life. This book offers a fresh perspective on Netaji’s legacy, providing both historical insights and a travelogue-style narrative, enriched with rare photographs and reproductions of historical documents.
