About the Author:
Purba Sengupta was born on September 27, 1963, in Jamshedpur, Bihar. Due to her father's job transfers, she studied in several schools. She completed her secondary education from Bani Pur Basic and Multipurpose School in 1979. As a student of social sciences, she completed her Master's degree from Calcutta University and later earned her Doctorate degree in 2001 after conducting research on Sociology and Vivekananda.
From 1992, she focused on writing various articles on Indian studies and Puranas, and in 1998, she was first recognized by Sahitya Akademi and American Who's Who. She worked for many years at the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark, in the Department of Indian Studies and Research. Sengupta has authored nearly twenty books on different aspects of Indian studies. In 2011, she was honored with the Sumathanath Ghosh and Gajendrakumar Mitra Best Essayist Award.
