Book Description:
Life is a relentless climb up an uncertain staircase—always chasing wealth, success, and fulfillment. People believe that at the end of this ascent, there lies uninterrupted happiness and prosperity. However, a single misstep can lead to a downfall from which there is no return.
Anuradha dreamed of seeing the world from the top—of looking down at life from a skyscraper of success. Her husband, Chandan Roychowdhury, a government official, has built a fortune through bribery and corruption, astonishing those around them with lavish wealth.
Their son, Souvik, is preparing for his secondary exams, representing another dream for Anuradha. But on New Year’s Day, Chandan is caught red-handed in a scandal—drunk and indulging in an illicit affair at Sheila Sen’s Park Street flat.
To cover up the disgrace, Chandan constructs a mountain of lies. But eventually, the mountain collapses. Their once stable world begins to crumble, leading to a devastating landslide of betrayal, shame, and despair.
