  • Love and Dilemma: The novel revolves around Tannishta, a young woman with high aspirations and a career-focused mindset, who is on the brink of marriage to the perfect suitor, Shaunak. However, her life takes an unexpected turn when she meets Abhimanyu, a young, ambitious man involved in the perfume business, who is distinct from other youth of his generation.
  • Choices and Conflict: Tannishta finds herself torn between Shaunak, who represents security and stability, and Abhimanyu, whose different worldview challenges her understanding of life. The emotional turmoil and choices Tannishta faces mirror the changing values and expectations in contemporary society.
  • Family Crisis: As Tannishta grapples with her own relationships, her father Shubhendu faces a personal crisis. Forced into early retirement from his job at 55, Shubhendu confronts the clash between his artistic aspirations and the commercialization of the group theater he cherishes. The novel beautifully intertwines these personal struggles.
  • Generational Tension: The novel also explores the tension between tradition and modernity, as Tannishta's relationship with her father and her evolving understanding of love and independence are tested. The journey through her family dynamics reflects the broader societal shifts impacting individuals in contemporary India.
  • Self-Discovery and Choice: The central theme of the book revolves around self-discovery and the choices we make when faced with life's dilemmas. Tannishta's search for meaning in her relationships and the challenges she faces ultimately lead her to question her identity and future path.
