Book Description

"Amake Biye Korben" is a thrilling and humorous Shabor Goyenda (detective) novel by renowned Bengali author Shibrendu Mukhopadhyay. The story blends mystery, suspense, and romance, with a mix of dark humor and psychological depth.

The plot revolves around Yugalkishoreji, an aging businessman whose company is in decline. At a crucial point in his life, he receives an offer for an arms deal. This deal seems to be a way out, requiring less effort due to available manpower. However, the deal soon turns complicated when Latu Biswas, a business partner, becomes infatuated with Yugalkishoreji’s daughter, Sulocchona. Despite the tensions, Sulocchona takes a drastic step and gets married to escape the situation.

Meanwhile, Yugalkishoreji’s mental health deteriorates due to dementia, and his business secrets are no longer secure. Latu, seeking to gain control, wants to remove Yugalkishoreji from the picture. But a bigger twist occurs when Shabor Dasgupta, the detective, is hired to investigate Yugalkishoreji’s situation, especially his involvement in the murder of his son-in-law, Habul.

The intrigue heightens as rumors spread about Shabor's boss, Dola Gupta, falling in love with him. As the mystery unfolds, questions arise about whether Habul was truly murdered, and if Latu was successful in removing Yugalkishoreji. The title’s question, “Amake Biye Korben?” (“Will you marry me?”), hints at a deeper personal and romantic mystery that Shabor must also unravel.

The narrative keeps the reader guessing, with Shabor’s sharp wit and investigation providing the backbone to this fast-paced thriller.
