Agnipaksha is the life story of a man whose name is now recognized by people across India and around the world. This individual, with boundless energy and a vast world of thoughts, is revered by all. His words are not always easily understood, yet they are always fresh, vibrant, and inspiring. Every moment of his life was filled with vigor, new ideas, and optimism. He maintained an unshakable love for the people of India, especially the most humble and innocent individuals, identifying himself with them.
Initially hesitant about sharing his personal journey, A. P. J. Abdul Kalam questioned whether the struggles, hardships, and victories of a boy from a small town would interest people. He wondered what others could gain from learning about his modest beginnings, his struggles due to financial hardship, and his decision to embrace a simple vegetarian life. Yet, he soon realized that no individual's life could be separated from the social framework they are part of, and that truth led him to decide to share his story.
The book reveals the evolution of a young man who, defying his father's wish for him to be a collector or a pilot, chose to become a missile scientist. It tells the story of how his life was shaped by the people and events that inspired him, allowing him to succeed and fulfill his dreams. His memoir not only shares the tale of his personal triumphs but also provides a reflection of India's advancements in science and technology during his era, a testament to the country's progress in the field.
This book is not only about his personal journey but also a documentation of India's struggles and successes as it strives to place itself at the forefront of global science and technology. It is a reflection of modern India and its ongoing transformation into a developed nation, as envisioned by Dr. Kalam in his "Technology Vision 2020." His vision for India's growth and his continuous engagement with academic institutions, along with his widespread interactions with students across the nation, are also essential parts of his legacy.
