Book Description

Abas paints a poignant picture of the group theater community, a collective of passionate, often unknown actors, directors, and creatives who strive to bring their dreams to life on stage. They arrive with high hopes, often struggling with financial difficulties, and devote all their energy to building a future in theater. They pour their resources, even going into debt, to showcase their vision of the world on the stage. Sometimes they gain fame; other times, their dreams falter, and they face the bitter disappointment of failure.

The novel dives deep into the inner workings of these theater groups, highlighting not only the external challenges they face but also the internal conflicts that threaten to tear them apart. Somresh Majumdar vividly captures the tension and the passion that characterize their lives—how the dream of theater is often built on the fragile foundation of broken aspirations, personal rivalries, and moments of fleeting triumph. Abas reflects both the dreams and the disappointments of these artists, using a set of familiar characters to depict a highly believable portrayal of the theater world.
