Apart from his work in cinema, Ray was a celebrated writer and illustrator. His literary works include science fiction, detective stories, essays, and short stories. Professor Shanku is one of his most beloved creations, and he received numerous prestigious awards, including the Bharat Ratna and the Legion of Honor from France, for his lifetime achievements in art and cinema. Ray passed away on April 23, 1992, leaving behind an unparalleled legacy in both film and literature.
