About the Author

Sameera Maiti is a Professor of Anthropology and the Dean of the School of Human Sciences at Sikkim University, Gangtok. She has been recognized for her work in anthropology, gender studies, and developmental issues. Dr. Maiti has received numerous accolades, including fellowships from Oxford University, the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Government of India. Her research interests span across marginalized communities, gender inequality, health issues, and ethno-medicinal studies.
