Winsor & Newton Art Masking Fluid is a pigmented liquid masking medium designed to protect selected areas of your artwork while applying watercolour, ink, or gouache washes. Formulated with rubber latex and pigment, it creates a temporary barrier that prevents paint from reaching masked areas, helping preserve highlights and fine details.
The slight pigmentation makes the applied areas clearly visible, allowing precise control during application. Once dry, colour can be applied freely over the surface. After the paint has completely dried, the masking fluid can be gently removed to reveal clean, untouched paper beneath.
This masking fluid is ideal for broad washes as well as detailed work. It should not be applied to damp or softly sized paper, as this may damage the surface. For best results, remove the masking fluid as soon as possible after painting is complete. Brushes used with masking fluid should be washed immediately with water to prevent damage.
