Prof. S. L. Seru
There are hundreds of Sanskrit texts which are known as Upanishads.Though some of them are very ancient but most of them belong to far later ages. Speaking strictly, the word Upanishad is basically the name given to the philosophical thinking of Vedic Rishis and each ancient Upanishad is an integral part and parcel of some of the Vedic Samhitas. Prof. Seru selects only such Upanishads for his present study and presents the philosophical teachings in such Upanishads alone as are closely connected with Vedas and as have been quoted by Sankaracharya in his scholarly commentary on Brahma Sutras. A curious reader, who does not possess sufficient knowledge of Sanskrit language, can have the main doctrines of the philosophy of Vedic Upanishads through the present work of Prof. Seru.
