Dr. Vanakuri Suguna Sarma is a distinguished scholar with an excellent academic background. She earned a Rolling Cup for securing the highest marks in Sanskrit during her B.A., and later obtained her M.A. with First Class. She went on to complete her M.Phil in 1984 and Ph.D. in 1993 from Osmania University. Additionally, she holds a diploma in Museology from the Salar Jung Museum, Hyderabad.
Dr. Sarma is actively engaged in academic circles, being a member of the Andhra Pradesh History Congress, and has presented numerous research papers at national and international seminars. She has contributed several insightful articles to reputed research journals.
Currently, she serves in the Department of Archaeology and Museums, Government of Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad. She has conducted extensive fieldwork across remote areas in Anantapur, Kurnool, and Cuddapah districts to gather data for the Directory of Monuments. Her ongoing research spans across multiple fields including Buddhism, Iconography, Museology, and Indian Art and Architecture.
