About the Book
This volume is the first-ever English translation and devotional interpretation (bhāvārtha) of Śrī Subodhinī, the profound Sanskrit commentary by Mahāprabhu Śrī Vallabhāchārya on the sacred Śrīmad Bhāgavata Mahāpurāṇa. Specifically focused on select chapters from the revered Tenth Canto, this edition brings to life the divine līlās (pastimes) of Lord Krishna through the lens of Vallabhacharya's Puṣṭimārga (Path of Grace) philosophy.
Śrī Subodhinī is not only a spiritual commentary but also a theological guide, revealing the essence of bhakti (devotion) as taught by one of India’s foremost saint-philosophers. Translator’s Note
T. Ramanan, a dedicated follower of the Śrī Sampradāya founded by Śrī Rāmānujāchārya, undertook this translation under the divine inspiration and blessings of Śrī Śyām Manohar Goswāmījī, a direct descendant of Mahāprabhu Śrī Vallabhāchārya. This work is an offering of devotion, carefully prepared to retain the spiritual flavor and theological integrity of the original, while making it accessible to a wider global audience.
About the Author
Mahāprabhu Śrī Vallabhāchārya (1479–1532), a legendary figure in the Bhakti movement, was the founder of the Puṣṭimārga and one of the five great Āchāryas of Indian devotional traditions. Revered as an incarnation of Agni (Fire), his contribution to the spiritual, philosophical, and literary landscape of India is profound. His key works, including Tattvārtha Dīpa Nibandha, Siddhānta Rahasya, and Subodhinī, emphasize the importance of grace-based devotion to Lord Krishna.
