About the Book
This volume compiles significant readings on major social and political movements in Punjab, from the British annexation of the province in 1849 to the present. The book features contributions from leading specialists, offering historical perspectives on the pivotal concerns, conflicts, and collective actions of the Punjabi people in their resistance and reform efforts. The studies cover a broad range of topics including social reform, ethnicity, religious politics, national integration, and political violence.

The volume is especially valuable for students and researchers of social science disciplines focused on Punjab but is also of great interest to those studying social movements, political dynamics, and the evolution of modern Punjab. The contributors examine movements spanning religious reform, political activism, and national struggles, shedding light on the complex socio-political landscape of the region.
