About the Book:
Social work research has undergone substantial changes in recent years, especially in the areas of research designs, data collection techniques, data analysis, and the use of computer technology in research. In light of these advancements, a seminar was organized in August 2006 at the Roda Mistry College of Social Work and Research Centre, Hyderabad, sponsored by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi. The seminar aimed to bring together social work educators, researchers, and practitioners to bridge the gap between research and social work practice, drawing from the methodologies of social scientists to adopt those most suitable for social work.
This volume compiles a selection of seminar papers divided into four major areas of research:
-
The first section presents nine papers offering descriptive accounts of research methods applied in social work interventions.
-
The second section includes two papers on data analysis and interpretation techniques.
-
The third section highlights two papers that delve into different specializations within social work research.
-
The final section explores four papers on various research strategies, including qualitative research, case study methods, and action research.
This book provides readers with valuable insights into the evolving research methods within social work, emphasizing the need for a shift in focus to enhance practical applications in real-world social work settings.
