About the Book
Reflections on Mahatma Gandhi: The Global Perspectives is a commemorative scholarly work celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, an iconic figure in India’s freedom struggle and a global symbol of non-violence. This book is a rich interdisciplinary compilation that revisits Gandhian thought through a global lens. Recognized worldwide as a proponent of peace, human rights, and civil resistance, Gandhi’s philosophy continues to be both widely respected and critically examined.
This volume brings together 30 thought-provoking essays by prominent scholars and experts from various disciplines. The contributions span themes such as globalization, ecology, politics, cinema, constitutional morality, international relations, education, literature, and gender, all through a Gandhian perspective. Notable chapters include comparative studies with Basaveswara and Periyar, Gandhi's influence on UN peace strategies, analyses of Satyagraha and Ahimsa, the portrayal of Gandhi in film, and his legacy in contemporary foreign policy and corporate responsibility.
From analyzing Gandhi's moral and spiritual dimensions to decoding his educational philosophy (Nai Talim), from exploring his approach to communal harmony to understanding his enduring influence on modern governance and civil resistance, this book presents a multifaceted exploration of his life and legacy. It offers a unique roadmap for applying Gandhian ideals to address today’s pressing socio-political and environmental challenges.
